The last 30 days have been exciting for our team as we’ve showcased new door and hardware products at local trade shows, including the 2016 Business Expo and the Nebraska Products Show. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit us! Here is a recap of some of the new products we featured:

KEEPING CHILDREN AND SCHOOLS SAFE WITH EMERGENCY LOCKDOWN

Our biggest and newest door and hardware product that we presented at the tradeshow was an Emergency Lockdown System called SHELTER®. While it’s suitable for any business or commercial setting, the product has been focused on two markets – education and commercial/corporate environments. These settings have a higher probability of violent events that would create the need for emergency or rapid lockdown systems.

For schools, this is especially important. When a violent intruder enters a school, the ability to get students and staff behind locked doors is critical. For most schools, this takes far too long. With an Emergency Lockdown system, administrators can lock all doors in 10 seconds with the push of a button.

Midwest Door & Hardware’s Emergency Lockdown product also alerts first responders and can be installed independently or on existing access control systems. This particular product was designed by engineers with specific research on school violence. And the bonus is – it costs less than traditional access control.

DO YOUR CURRENT DOOR HANDLES KILL GERMS? OURS DO.

In hospitals alone there are over 103,000 Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs) reported every year!

The surfaces in public facilities like hospitals and medical clinics are touched several thousand times each day. Not only does that leave a lot of fingerprints, but that creates an opportunity for bacteria to spread hundreds of times an hour. Preventing the spread of bacteria that can lead to illness is why Midwest Door & Hardware has become a distributor for a new line of germ-killing copper called “Healthy Hardware”.

“Healthy Hardware” is manufactured from specifically formulated copper alloys that are registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). When cleaned regularly, these copper alloys have been proven to kill 99.9% of the most virulent bacteria like e-coli, MRSA and Staph. This is not a coating, but rather an all-natural, solid copper-based alloy that will last for the life of the product.

REDUCE NOISE DISTRACTIONS BY INSTALLING QUIET DOOR LATCHES

When a patient is in the hospital recovering from a surgery or illness, it’s important that they’re able to get quality sleep. One of the sources of patient complaints in hospitals comes from the noise that the nurses make, entering and leaving the room.

The “Quiet Door Latch” is a push-pull door latch that helps reduce sound and allows the patient to achieve better rest and recovery due to less interruptions due to noise.

A great place for these products are in children hospitals or rooms for children.
